Dear Colleagues,
I take this opportunity of greeting you all on the auspicious occasion of festivals and wish you happiness and prosperity. I also take this opportunity of reviewing our performance during last six months that I have been here and present to you my views briefly about going ahead in future.
Immediately after I joined, I took a bird’s eye view of the working of the Corporation. I found that morale of the employees was at a very low level due to various problems continuing from the past which I think are mostly controllable. I therefore had several meetings with all level of employees and in consultation with them took up various innovative measures to improve the financial position & working of the Corporation, some of which are listed below: |

Enforcement of Administrative Discipline in the employees of the Corporation. |

| |
Enhancing medical reimbursement limit towards employee welfare. |
| |
|
| |
To meet the challenges of Global and Competitive environment make every employee of the Corporation computer savvy. |
| |
|
| |
Financial and Operational Restructuring of the Organization. |
| |
|
| |
Deployment of idle man-powers to working units. |
| |
|
| |
Extension
of Voluntary Retirement Scheme to reduce the surplus man power
and towards this Corporation has already given VRS to about 90
workmen from own resources. |

|
| |
Taking
up the Revival Plan with the Ministry of Water Resources and
BRPSE for the achieving the turnaround of the Corporation. |
| |
|
| |
Establishment of Communication Net Work at corporate office. |
| |
|
| |
Bringing
in transparency in working in all areas. |
| |
|
| |
De-centralization
of power and entrusting responsibilities at Zonal level for
accelerated growth of the corporation. |
| |
|
| |
Formulation
of Clear Corporate Policy and Objectives and publicizing the
same to the employees at all levels for their active
participation. |
| |
|
| |
Formulation
of various strategies to achieve turn-over of Rs.1000 Crores
in its Golden Jubilee Year 2007, which would help in achieving
turn around of the Corporation. |

the areas, identified for action are still under
initiation: |

Revision of NPCC Manual incorporating necessary modifications. |
| |
|
| |
Re-designating & promoting the employee of the Corporation so as to meet the Challenges of the present competitive environment. |

Achieving profitability of Corporation by |
| |
|
| |
Reducing the overhead by divesting the Close Units. |
| |
|
| |
To increase the Order Book Position to more than Rs. 2500 crores by aggressive marketing. |
| |
|
| |
To enhance Turnover beyond Rs. 600 crores and achieve profitability. |
| |
|
| |
To repair the machinery/equipment under breakdown for their optimum utilization and disposal of equipment beyond economical repair. |
| |
|
| |
Implementation of Profit Centre Approach in various Zones of the Corporation. |
| |
|
| |
Thrust and special drive on Realizations of the outstanding claims |
| |
|
| |
You will be happy to know that as a result of the above initiative, the Corporation has already achieved a turnover of Rs.18495 Lakhs from April 2005 to September 2005 as against turnover of Rs.12451 lakhs during corresponding period in the last year, indicating an increase of 48.5 %. Similarly order bagged position has also improved about Rs. 690 crores in this period compared to about Rs. 253 crores during corresponding period in the last year, indicating an increase of 173 %. With further growth in Business, Turnover and profitability, I hope, we will not only stand totally on our own resources but would also be able to pass on some benefits to all sections of Employees. |
